I worked at bioMérieux full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great company, great benefits, competitive products. Pension! (not sure if they still have them). Invest in the right things - CRM, ERP, reporting, which helps when you are trying to perform data analysis and historical trending.

    Cons

Some of the management is far too tenured (and French, at times), and is sometimes oblivious to the real needs of employees or customers. Somewhat flat organization, and rarely see potential leaders get the chance.

I worked at bioMérieux full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great benefits, great people. There are career opportunities within the company in the US, but if you want to work for another location of the business abroad, don't hold your breath unless you're higher up in leadership.

    Cons

French owned, so ideas that come from the US employees aren't always welcome. Hard to break through the glass ceiling. Not very diverse. Women in upper leadership positions are virtually non-existent.

I worked at bioMérieux full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

4 weeks vacation, $3 lunch allowance that’s about it, average workers are ok, pros are hard to list for this company, avoid this place if you’re smart.

    Cons

In Durham, 19th Century Management Style, bullying, backstabbing, fingerpointing, butt kissing, no clear direction, constant state of panic, drug addicts for managers - rampant drug and alcohol abuse, horrible leadership, promotions based on partying - the more messed up you get the quicker you’re promoted. Revolving door anyone with any sense will leave this place. French leaders are ruthless, arrogant and worthless. Couldn’t cut it in an American company.

I worked at bioMérieux full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company offers great benefits and compensation, opportunities for advancement and training.

    Cons

Too many layers of management (matrix), they frequently promote people without experience, backstabbing and political culture, and the French unrealistically expect Americans to conduct business as is done in France. Too many meetings prevent one from getting tasks completed. It was typical to have the same conversation with five different people in five different meetings. This was true for every single conversation or concern or status update. They preach excellent company values and ethics but they do not practice them.

I have been working at bioMérieux full-time

    Pros

Good benefits. Diverse workforce that comes from everywhere in the world. A huge portion of even the American employees have at least traveled overseas.

    Cons

Current site has growing pains with a lot of new employees. There are a lot of issues that need to be resolved and improved upon for the site to be successful. The cultural clash between Americans and the large number of French that come here to work.

    Pros

Family business. Career Development Opportunities with global exposure and very rich benefits.

    Cons

must be willing to learn to adapt and integrate US culture with French culture. Not a con, just a necessary requirement that not everyone can handle.
