hipages has a unique balance of being a product-led tech company and having a strong operational and Sales presence, that gives the business the push and and support it needs to thrive. OKRs were implemented in early 2022, and the whole company is committed to improving how we do it. Our leadership is truly present, humble and collaborative. We have loads of fun events and parties, the office is beautiful and not only looks like a real home, it feels like home. I love working for hipages, it would take a LOT to get me out of here!
Cons
In a truly collaborative place every now and then you need to do work that is not exactly part of your role. At the moment I'm borrowed to a team that is working on an internal project. It's not exactly what I signed up for, but I'm happy to do it because the project is strategic and extremely important. I'm not going anywhere soon so I know I'll soon go back to doing the fun customer-facing stuff that I love :)

I encourage you to call out any leaders who are not displaying our leadership charter behaviours, we publish and commit to them for a reason so if you see anyone behaving differently a subtle reminder hopefully will go a long way! As for face to face 360 feedback, it is an evolution of building a totally robust psychologically safe environment and agree it is an aspiration to work towards. The issue with this approach can be we stop getting fully candid feedback as people don't want to offend others. Food for thought and further exploration though! You can always see roles advertised on SEEK etc with higher salaries for most roles, however they don't represent the average. Hi, thanks for your feedback - glad you love the engineering culture but sorry to see you felt there were issues with senior management and our hybrid culture. Early on in the pandemic we committed to a hybrid work model, and that does mean we want our teams coming together in person regularly and, to ensure we don't lose cross team connection and collaboration, the whole company coming together a couple of times a month. I understand this does not suit everyone, however it is a policy we stand by and the majority of our team are happy with the arrangement (per our very high engagement scores). With regards to your comments on senior management they are not specific so unfortunately I can't address them directly, however I can let others know that 91% of all Australian employees rate their direct manager as a 'great leader', which is pretty impressive! Recent changes show lack of employee trust. Mandatory annual leaves, mandatory in-office days. Some degree of micro management. Average compensation.

Hi, Thanks for your feedback and glad you love the culture (and George, everyone loves George!!) Sorry to hear you don't like our mandatory annual leave over the christmas break and regular in office days. You mention these are recent changes but actually we have had an annual christmas office shut down to encourage our teams to take a much needed and important break for at least the last 10 years, similarly with our in-office days , these have been in place since just after the last lockdown. We believe in in-person connection and collaboration and think two days per month for this is reasonable. I can also report that we benchmark our salaries externally and pay very well to market - you can always find a role that is paying more, but you should factor in all the other benefits, company culture etc when you compare.
