I worked at j2 Global (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    The good stuff:
Benefits, such as health, dental& life insurance, contribution towards pension, free breakfast and lunch provided, some awesome company paid employee events, tax saver scheme, some paid sick days. - FYI, could be promoted at a better level, many employees are not aware of them!
Some strong teams, good people to work with, helpful and supportive, especially some of the managers, which really go over and beyond for their teams.
Some awesome and genuinely nice people around all departments.

If you really want to learn this is the place to do it, as you have the chance to master cross-functional communication, upskill yourself, get a better sense of what an organization means and understand the complexity of the business environment (given that you are willing to dive into your job, go beyond your daily tasks and avoid the routine, basically roll up your sleeves and get to work, which some people don’t practice in j2.)
A company with good enough opportunities to progress from an entry level to mid-level position, however, given the office size and some old mentalities, there’s little room left to progress further.

    Cons

    The not so good stuff:
    Poor internal communication.
Some employees are not performing at the level they should and they create a precedent.
    Micromanagement.
Hard targets to reach for a fading technology.
Overworking due to never-ending headcount issues.
Location isn’t great if you’re not from The North (winter is coming).
Facilities could use some improvement ASAP.
    No maternity benefits.
    Lack of flexibility.

I worked at j2 Global full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    *Good salary
*Some nice people (and one of the best supervisors ever)
*Short term work 6-9 months recommended. You will learn a lot and it will be helpful for your future career

    Cons

    *Bad management and HR
    *No help
*Crazy and busy environment (as if we were machines)
*Some supervisors are there because of a friend and not because they deserve it (they have no idea about their job after many years and they need help instead of helping others as they should)
*No possibility to grow (only if you are manger's best friend)

    Advice to Management

If the product does not work is not possible to have good reputation, or you enhance the product or nobody will want it

    High Turnover
Other j2 contact centers dump calls on our queues
Complaints not taken seriously by Head Quarters
HQ has no idea what Customer Service does and therefore makes decisions that effect OTT team negatively
    HVAC system is poor

    Advice to Management

Higher more managers, open up more opportunities for advancement/make more effort to show lower tier agents appreciation.

    Pros

The business gives you higher level control of responsibility and you can actually get rewarded by your managers for good solid work with praise.

    Cons

The locals outside of the office. There are a lot shady characters on Hollywood that stalk you after hours, both male and female.

    Advice to Management

Move the office to a more family friendly location like Burbank or Glendale, or the Valley.

I have been working at j2 Global full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    *Amazing benefits package
    *free coffee
    *weekly bagels
    *a few excellent managers/team leads

    Cons

*Way too busy. It wasn't always like this. 2 years ago I was taking 700 calls a month and now I am taking 1200 calls a month. This company took on more than they can chew and they don't even care to hire more people. They fail call center service levels every single day by a huge amount. Some people on hold for ACTUALLY over 2 hours. Call Queues usually run an entire 8 hour shift without time to breathe.
*Management throws out write-ups like they are going out of style. They will even set you up and lie to you so that you break policy and then deny they lied to you in the first place.
*pay is pennies above minimum wage but they require 1 year of Customer Service expierience as well as a surprising technical knowledge for a minimum wage job.
*programs break/crash every day. Something wrong with the service daily.
    *questionable business ethics.
*poorly coded website and software. Efax Messenger is the worst software I have ever seen and the calls for it are a nightmare.
*fixes for issues take WAY too long. Think months or years, not days.
*Phone system IVR asks the customer for their fax number and account verification before connecting with an agent and it never reaches us so we have to ask it again creating frustrated customers from the beginning of the call.

    Advice to Management

Invest in upgrading your tools/software/phone system and hire some people to handle the ever increasing number of calls coming in. This is the epitome of cheap and non-caring.
