I worked at zulily full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great co-workers, location, benefits have gotten better

    Cons

Senior Management, career growth, not open to remote working

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees what they are worth, listen to them and help them grow. There isn't a lot of growth once you get to a certain level and management wasn't trying to foster growth within employees. When the company began it was amazing but it changed so much and lost it's original edge. Hopefully they are planning to go back to how it used to be as people were happier. Allow employees to work remotely.

I worked at zulily full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

the people you work with are awesome for the most part. fast paced, and easy to make changes

    Cons

because you move so fast mistakes get made and some new strategies don't stand a chance . it can be hard to move within the company. one bad boss could totally suck the life out of your career there. the pay is not great in comparison to some other companies. However, this was a great place for me to get my foot in the door as a buyer and i learned a lot.

    Advice to Management

listen to your assistant buyers! they are in the thick of it.

I have been working at zulily full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Love the benefits. People treat me respect and acknowledge when I am over performing. I was a manager in Hospitality for 30 years before coming to Zulily. I respect all leads and I understand all the pressure all higher ups deal with every day. Good balance between life and work. Oppurtunity for over time when i choose to do it.

    Cons

The cap on hourly team member pay is low. Place is huge, when its break time after we get to break area, we only have a few minutes till we have to get back. It's extremely hot. Fans barely moving. Just turn up the fans and give us time to get to break and things would be great.

    Advice to Management

Please it is so hot. Some packing stations have no air circulation at all, but if you would turn up the cieling fans it would create some air flow to these stations. I have been there for 4 months and was told in orientation that I would get my first increase after 90 days but I have not heard anything about it yet. Love working here just please make better the things you have control over.

    Pros

The benefits are out of this world.

    Cons

They don't pay enough. They ask you to do so many other jobs for the small amount of pay. They are CONSTANTLY CHANGING THEIR METRICS. They grade EXTREMELY hard on QA. The supervisors do not help when you ask for assistance. (at least the one I had)

I worked at zulily full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I stayed for over 5 years because of the co-workers I worked with directly. The on set support from stylists, production assistants, junior stylists & other fellow photographers are truly the only reason it was doable. The rest of the studio team including supervisors & the upper management team made it at times extremely difficult to work there. At the beginning of my time with the company, I'd say the culture...

    Cons

-Pay is just barely worth it - consistently under industry standard. -PTO accrual is about 1.2 days each month - you can not cash out any left over PTO once you leave the company. -The management team is not capable of running a team of creatives. -The studio in general is viewed as the "black sheep" of the company, despite quite literally being necessary for the company to run. -The studio is filled with very...

    Advice to Management

-Non-creative managers should not be "managing" creatives. -Diversity & inclusion are just words that aren't put to action in this company. Almost every single supervisor hired were former Starbucks & had no experience working with a creative team. They were almost always virtual clones of the same type of person. Hiring a diverse cast of people will only HELP this company. - Fight for your team of creatives,...
