DBS has been named to the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI) for the fifth year running, in recognition of the bank’s longstanding commitment to workplace gender equality. Said DBS CEO Piyush Gupta, “We are honoured to be included in the GEI for the fifth year running and to be recognised for building a diverse and inclusive workplace that provides equal opportunity and growth. At DBS, woman comprise 50% of our workforce, 40% of our senior management and drive our largest businesses and functions across the bank. We believe the gender, generational and cultural diversity of our people is a powerful performance lever, one that allows us to consistently punch above our weight.” We will continue creating an inclusive and equal workplace where all employees can thrive in the new normal.
A career at DBS is one where you can embrace a growth mindset & have access to learning opportunities. With the Covid-19 crisis has amplifying the need for reskilling & upskilling, we are equipping our employees with skillsets through specially designed initiatives so that they are future ready. One such initiative, named "Be My Guest", offers tailored opportunities for staff to participate in the daily work of a leader, or team, from a different business function within the bank. Kenneth Teow, a Private Bank fund selection manager, saw this as a chance to gain exposure in an area of interest – trading & investment products. Learn more about his "Be My Guest" experience in the link below.
DBS was recognised for our fair and progressive employment practices and empowering our employees to achieve work-life excellence at the Tripartite Alliance Awards 2021. We are committed to fair recruitment practices, a holistic approach to employee development, embracing diversity and adopting flexible work arrangements. Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and we believe it is important to provide an environment for them to be productive and engaged, leading fulfilled lives.
DBS has partnered Lean In, a global community dedicated to helping women achieve their ambitions, as we continue to build a respectful & inclusive workplace that embraces diversity. Fostering a sense of community has become more crucial, with the Covid-19 pandemic disrupting lives, leading to feelings of anxiety & stress. Kicking off the partnership was the official launch of the DBS Lean In Circles Programme, which aims to connect groups of employees at similar career stages or with similar interests, creating safe spaces for them to provide mutual support, share personal struggles, provide and receive advice, and celebrate one another’s wins.able growth. We are committed to supporting gender diversity, as we build strong communities throughout the bank, so employees can come together and find a way forward towards a more inclusive workplace.
Since Covid-19 struck, like many others, DBS has been realising new ways of working. Late last year, we introduced a permanent hybrid work model and a formal job sharing scheme to provide employees with more flexibility. We also put in place a slew of programmes under our TOGETHER employee movement to help our people manage their physical, emotional and mental well-being. However, with the pandemic looking to be more protracted than hoped, we are doing more for our employees, particularly on managing the blurred lines between work and home.
