This December, several MBC representatives attended the 2018 Women in Defense (WID) San Diego Holiday Mixer held at vomFASS. During this exciting networking event, approximately 40 professionals from industry and defense organizations had the opportunity to mingle while enjoying a tasting of a wide variety of finest vinegars, oils, liqueurs and spirits. Not only the occasion facilitated the expansion of our industry knowledge, but it served as a medium to establish new connections and spread out MBC’s solutions and great opportunities.
WID, a National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) Affiliate, engages, cultivates and advances women in all aspects of national security. Incorporated in 1985, WID provides members a business environment for professional growth through strategic networking, education, and career development.
Congratulations to our very own Joseph Ferguson for celebrating his ten-year anniversary with MBC! In honor of this anniversary we asked Joe to share his experience at MBC.
As the week draws to a close, we at MBC want to share inspiration to mull over this weekend. Visit the HBR article to see what we're thinking about emotional intelligence! http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQI6n
At MBC we believe in ambitious goals, and it’s no surprise we carry that belief into our lives beyond the workday. Katrina from our San Diego office reminds us that goals come in all shapes and sizes. Earlier this summer Katrina conquered Graham Crackers 5.7 in Idyllwild, CA during her first multi-pitch climb. Multi-pitch climbing is the ascent of climbing routes with one or more stops at anchors that the climber (or partner) sets up along the route; each section of a climb between stops is called a pitch. This climb was 300' – Katrina was 120' up when this picture was taken!
Katrina says that, “Goals work as a step to the next ambitious goal, this was the beginning of my journey and each time you achieve a goal it shows you what you’re capable of, and you live up to your potential.”.
Thanks for inspiring us all, Katrina! We’re off to dream big and work toward that next ambitious goal. What will your goal be?
The San Diego Culture team kicked off a Summer full of fun ideas for teambuilding by hosting a Meet & Greet lunch for the SPAWAR PMW 740 and MIDS teams. The teams met near the MIDS office to give the 740 team a chance to not only meet some of their MIDS counterparts, but to see where they work. Of course, this was an easy choice when choosing locations because the MIDS team's offices sit next to one of San Diego's loveliest views; and really, a San Diego culture event wouldn't be complete without ocean views and sunshine! Sharing sandwiches seaside made for a great opportunity for MBC staff to get to know their teammates while taking a well-deserved break from all of the great client work they are doing in San Diego.
