Language and gender: what does it mean to us in the workplace and beyond? If this is a subject that interests you, why not join us at our next Tech meet-up? We’ll be discussing the impact that gendered language has on our behaviour in the workplace. Are there such things as 'male' and 'female' words? How does our use of particular words alienate some? Why do some job adverts never attract CVs from certain demographic groups? Why does language used in a meeting room hold meaning for some and not others? Our meet-ups are usually held at our Coventry office and are free to attend. You can find out more details on this session and upcoming topics and guest speakers via the below link. We hope to see you there! http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vMLPi
Local initiatives are the driving force behind communities across the country. That’s why we’re encouraging our employees to show their support and volunteer. From Thursday 26 September, Shell Energy Retail colleagues will have the opportunity to take one fully paid day away from work to get involved with programmes in their area. The opportunities include supporting schools with career advice and interview preparation for students, helping out at local food banks, and acting as STEM ambassadors who work with children to encourage a more diverse workforce. We're really pleased to be able to play our part in supporting local communities, and look forward to seeing our colleagues make a real impact.
We recently launched our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) Programme in partnership with Shell Group and Engineering UK. We're supporting local schools to encourage young women to explore a career in a STEM subject, helping to create a more diverse workforce and increasing the potential for future ideas. Our colleagues are volunteering to act as ambassadors for the programme, inspiring young people by sharing their experiences, helping them understand why a career in STEM is really worth a try. We're proud to support the local community and tomorrow's engineers. Find out more about Tomorrow's Engineers Energy Quest: http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vMeXH

Fantastic couple of days hosting our Company-wide conference this week at the Ricoh Arena. From games to 'chat-show' style questions for our Exec, the focus was very much on the excitement of our future. It was wonderful to welcome colleagues from our Krakow and Hamburg offices to HQ in Coventry to share in the fun.
Congratulations to our Internal Communications Team who came away with not one, but two merits and an award from yesterday's IOIC Central and Northern Awards 2018. It's fantastic that the launch of our retail benefits platform featured in two of these. Very well deserved by all involved!
Great article in the New York Times today on Shell's energy transition and our part in that journey. This is a particularly exciting time for all of our colleagues as we look forward to our future: http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQWfE
Following celebrations for International Women's Day last week, we're keeping the topic of closing the gender gap high on our agenda. Let's support and encourage more women to remain in the workforce and reach senior roles. http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQjGS http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQjGJ
