Batman instead of a Scrum Master: Our engineer Bodhan explains how his team manages stakeholder requests at Zalando.
For the past year, our group of Engineering Leads worked to improve collaboration and cross functional communication across teams. This was the result of team retrospectives and employee surveys indicating required improvement in these areas. One initiative which we took to address these issues was to implement role rotation amongst engineers. The goal of this developer rotation was to establish cross-functional knowledge sharing, encourage cross team collaboration within the department, and bring greater product awareness.

Meet the Zalon Data Team. "We all come from different countries, backgrounds and work experience and this makes our team more open-minded to share a different point of views, and different ways of working. We’re also pet-friendly, regularly play board games and love ice cream! (We have our favourite places). Our main challenges are to scale the infrastructure in relation to the recent explosion in the number of users, and to improve accuracy and performances of our personalized outfit recommendation system. By using a wide range of data sources from both Zalon and Zalando, we’ve also improved personalized outfit recommendations for our customers and increased their user experience by introducing a semi-automated approach for outfit generation. We tackle all those challenges, exploring business ideas without boundaries, by experimenting innovative solutions in an agile way."
