Big 4 salaries come with big burnout risks. I'm currently at Deloitte, and I'm running on fumes. However, I'm too afraid to take a step back or take time off because I never know when layoffs will hit and I don't want to be seen as weak. So I keep pushing myself. How do you guys work yourself to the point of exhaustion and yet avoid burnout?
Did you learn anything in college that actually helps you in your career? I've been thinking about it, and I'm not sure what information I've taken with me from school into my career. Makes me wonder, what's the point of college?
I was put on PIP yesterday and my initial plan is to secure another work but I don't want to let my parents know since they think I'm doing great. I did think I'm doing great despite being put into tiger's den-from facing Tax Season MONTH after being trained. My performance was 4/5 if it were me since some clients take loooong to reply which makes the audit long to finish. They said it's my confidence. I just want to find another job right now. Whether online of fwf
Do you guys send your kids to daycare with their cellphones? My kids are starting their summer daycare program next week but the center doesn't want kids to bring tablets or cellphones. I feel like I want my kids to be able to call me if they need me. So, I'm thinking of putting their phones in their bags, on silent anyway. I'm paying a fortune to this center, I should get some say here.
Has anyone taken a mental health/stress leave and are they paid? I am suffering but can’t afford not having a paycheck.
There's a special place in hell reserved for the asshole who invented internal controls testing.
They are the specific step by step details of the control that the control owner performs to meet the objective of the control. Based on the design attributes, we create our testing attributes, to then test that each of the design attributes of the control were performed by the control owner.
It takes bean counting to the extreme and says not only must we accountants count them beans, but we gotta be sure the guy doing the counting of them beans did it in just such a perfect way that even though we independently recounted the beans he counted and we got the same total as him, we gotta make sure there's no way he (and we?) miscounted. The argument that a company could have a clean substantive audit and fail on an internal controls (integrated) audit and we'd ding them in the opinion letter, is simply maddening. #KillSOX. #FAKEaccountingwork
^ yep. Think of it as the theory behind the execution of the control.
