Does PTO effect our utilization percentage?

My patience for this job is waning⌠Iâm 35, single, no debt - Made some decent investments last year in some AI chip stocks and now theyâre coming to roost.. my brokerage account is now more than my 401k. I feel like my life is 90% work and 10% everything else. I wonder if I should take some extended time off (6mo-1yr) as I would love to actually have space for things during the week again and explore / grow in other areas of my life. Is it time?

Do you find that your team members in India take more sick days than US? On my team in the US, we work from home if we get a cold but are generally still able to work. Being too sick to work happens to each of our US team maybe 1-3 times a year. My team in India takes 1-2 sick days per month. Are they actually too sick to work and that level of illness is more common? Or is there a cultural difference that you don't work if not feeling well?

Left McK as an EM for a role that offered $325k, Iâm only 3 months out and competitor of company I joined wants to poach me and give 450k. I personally been enjoying my new org and itâs been such little time, however the jump in comp is substantial. How would you handle this?

Does anyone else cringe a bit when they see a former intern, or similar, have âex-BCGâ, âformer Bainâ, âPwC alumâ, etc. on their LinkedIn headline? I donât like it generally, and I donât feel like an intern even counts. I truly hope it helps someone get a job, just cringy.

Tech companies across the U.S. are laying off employees, including people who gave years â sometimes decades â helping build those companies. What feels difficult to understand is this: If AI is increasing efficiency while companies are still highly profitable, why should employees experience only the downside of that progress? AI should not only reduce costs. It should also create room to invest more deeply in people, creativity, learning, and long-term human potential.

For uncle D it does :-/
PTO doesn't count against utilization
Yes. Your base is likely 2080 or 2040 hours.
No. PTO time is removed from the denominator of (chargeable hours/total hours).
The impact of PTO depends on what you're firm measures: FULL UTILIZATION or EFFECTIVE UTILIZATION. Full utilization will always use 2080 hours add the available hours (or something close). Effective utilization subtracts vacation, holidays, sick leave, paternity leave, etc from the available hours.
Yes! You should never go on leave. Ever.
