This is a full-time Senior Technical and Dynamic Positioning Superintendent position responsible with regards to safety, operations, technical, procurement, crewing and budget compliance aspects for vessels in the fleet.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Safety
· Active member of incident investigation, SEMM Management Review Team & the Shore Emergency Response Team as required.
· Attending to machinery failures & Incidents investigation, to identify and develop root cause and corrective action plan. including issuing technical circulars if required.
· Provide support for Audit’s, risk assessment and all Safety, environmental, operational and technical aspect. Responsible for issue of Management of Change (MOC) for vessel assigned as required.
· Support and provide advice in technical investigation on vessel’s machinery breakdown and insurance claim. Provide advice to the investigation team in developing root cause and corrective action plans.
· Visit vessel as part of the Company Senior Management to comply HSSEQ plan
Operations
· Ensure vessels meet all obligations under the Charter Parties Agreements in a safe & efficient manner.
· Responsible for budget preparation, maximizing Uptime, monitoring VOC (Vessel operating Cost), Insurance claims and striving to achieve cost efficiency.
· Ensure legislative and regulatory compliance for vessels assigned – such as class, flag state, port state, local and international requirements and good practices.
· Support in up-keep, update and maintain all vessel’s technical data in shared drive, such as equipment manuals, drawing, certificates, technical service report, maker’s circular letters, Class report etc.
Technical & Procurement Responsibilities
· Ensure all vessels are well-maintained per PMS (TM Master) and manufacturers’ requirements, including updating job scopes based on operational needs.
· Lead and manage the Technical and Procurement teams, including Superintendents, Procurement staff, and Technical Admin, ensuring effective collaboration and performance.
· Supervise ship management, dry-docking, overhauls, and major repairs. Provide guidance on technical matters to maximize uptime and operational efficiency.
· Monitor and guide the technical team in using PMS software (TM Master) effectively, ensuring maintenance tasks align with equipment specs and vessel requirements.
· Respond promptly to vessel breakdowns, providing timely updates to clients and owners on repair progress and ensuring rapid resolution.
· Oversee fleet DP systems, navigation/communication, and shipboard electronics, including participation in DP trials, FMEA, and related audits.
· Support vessel procurement needs by sourcing, evaluating, negotiating, and approving vendors while managing cost efficiency and budget adherence.
· Conduct regular vessel visits and audits, ensure superintendents perform quarterly inspections, and track closure of deficiencies from all reports and surveys.
· Maintain Class, Flag, Port State, and client compliance by arranging surveys and audits, and ensuring vessels meet Charter Party technical obligations.
· Ensure up-to-date records of technical manuals, equipment drawings, certifications, and technical updates are maintained in both soft and hard copy formats.
Crewing
· Ensure the vessels crew are well-trained and maintaining the vessel.
· Performance evaluation of the sea staff and office staff reporting directly or indirectly.
· Briefing of Shipboard Senior Officers prior to joining vessels with regards to SEMM matters as required, company policies, specific charterers’ requirements.
· Interview potential candidates forming part of the vessels crew
Job Requirements
· Minimum 5 to 7 years of shore-based experience in a similar technical superintendent role.
· Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Marine Electrical Engineering, Electro-Technical, or a related discipline
· Experience: Minimum 3 years of onboard DP2 / DP3vessels as ETO
· Experience in dry docking.
· Strong hands-on experience and technical knowledge in electrical systems, DP systems, automation, navigation, communication, and shipboard electronics.
· Good knowledge of vessel maintenance practices, Class requirements, statutory compliance, and offshore vessel operations.
· Experience in DP trials, FMEA, electrical troubleshooting, and technical support for DP vessels will be an advantage.
· Able to work independently, manage priorities, and respond to operational and technical issues in a timely manner, while working effectively with teams from diverse backgrounds and across different locations.
· Willing and able to travel at short notice, including overseas assignments, for vessel attendance, inspections, audits, repairs, and dry-docking, and to support vessels across multiple time zones and outside normal office hours when required.
· Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Pay: ₹300,000.00 - ₹500,000.00 per month
