Mission Our mission is to invent and commercialize innovative therapeutic platforms that harness the power of each patient’s immune system. We engage in multi-disciplinary research and development efforts, both internally and through collaborations with the global scientific and clinical community, to deliver the full promise of immune cell therapy to medicine.
Description Therakos makes the treatment of disease an out-of-body experience. The Johnson & Johnson subsidiary has developed the UVAR XTS and CELLEX photopheresis systems, in which a patient's white blood cells are collected, exposed to ultraviolet light in combination with UVADEX (a light-activated drug), and then returned to the patient. The procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis and is approved in the US, Canada, and Europe to treat skin lesions associated with cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, a kind of cancer of the immune system. Therakos' photopheresis system is the only such treatment to gain approval from the FDA.
