Pros
Sorry, there is not even one pro to dealing with these low-lives…
Cons
There’s only one way to describe Stafftacular, and that’s unprofessional and classless. They just put me through a fool’s errand.. Literally, for 8 hours… Said they needed me for an event at that very moment, due to a last minute cancellation. I went back and forth with the staffing coordinator between them not being able to make up their minds about whether or not to have me come in, and regarding the amount for travel. My total travel time to the location was almost 3 hours, with the cost of a ferry. First I get told nevermind, the arrival time is too late. Half hour later it’s, “We can’t find anyone today so we’re going to book you and we’ll cover the ferry.” So I spend the next half hour getting ferry information online and over the phone, and trying to figure out times. When she had first reached out to me, the next ferry was leaving in 24 minutes, so there was no way I was able to make it. I was just learning about everything, and I was still in bed. The ride to the ferry terminal alone is 12 minutes. The next one was at 1pm, and I told her this. I also told her that I would not arrive at the event until after 3:30. 23 minutes after she tells me she’s going to book me in she says, “I don’t think today is going to work, what time would the ferry be tomorrow?” So now I’m looking up that info and figuring other things out. Half hour after she asks me what time the ferry is, now it’s, “I will have to talk to my supervisor but I just don’t think it’s going to work out with our budget.” 15 minutes later — “Would you still be able to get on that ferry for today?” … You would think at this point I would’ve just said to myself, never deal with this agency again. They obviously have an issue with being able to make decisions. The constant changing her answers on me when she knew I was on a real time crunch with the next ferry as it was, was a sheer sign of unprofessionalism. When she asked me for the third time if I’d be able to take the ferry, it was 12:15. The next ferry was at 1. And it was then I found out, and only because I asked her, not because she told me on her own, that I would only be paid for the time I was on-site! And she knew I’d only be there for 3 hours!! Who would travel for a total of 6 hours in addition to working for 3 hours, just to be paid for 3 hours?? $110 travel was being offered but $75 of it had to go towards a ferry! So I would’ve only made $35 extra on top of only 3 hours of pay. That’s 8 hours total of my time, to make a lousy $125?? In my experience, agencies pay you for the start of the shift regardless of the time you arrive, because they’re the ones calling you same day and it’s supposed to be a thank you for being available on such short notice. Either way, so now that was more time wasted trying to get them to pay me a certain amount of travel, to make going through all this at least somewhat worth my time, with the understanding I’d also be working the following day. By the time she finally came back with an amicable solution, it was already 15 minutes past the latest time I had told her I needed to know by in order to get on the next ferry. She was well aware I was cutting it extremely close. I literally had to throw clothes on, run out the door, knowing I didn’t even have everything I needed to get through the day, pushed my car to the limit during the 12 minute drive I had to the terminal, flew up to the booth, paid as quickly as possible, and drove to the standby lane… There were 9 cars ahead of me in standby. Every single car in front of me made it, but of course not me! I’m sitting there in the lane, texting and calling her for 15 minutes, no response!! I wanted to know if she wanted me to wait for the next ferry. She finally responded and said no you can leave. So then I have to go inside the terminal to get a refund before I leave. My entire day was ruined. What made it semi-okay was she told me I could work the following day… After much more back and forth, she finally confirmed in text that I was booked at 4:45pm, and sent me my booking confirmation email at 5:35pm after I called her to confirm. Another hour plus was spent between talking about the event, going back and forth with her about parking, and trying to figure out which ferry to book… Turns out I had to take the first ferry out, which was 7am. So I cancelled plans I had that night because I obviously could not go out and do anything, I needed to be up at 5:30am. By 7:30 I’m in bed, booking my ferry. As soon as I enter my card information I receive a text and I kid you not this is what it said… “Have you booked your ferry? My client isn’t sure he wants another person for the next day.”… Yup. And if that wasn’t horrible enough, she wouldn’t even offer a dime to me for the entire rigmarole I was put through for absolutely nothing. And of course because I requested what should’ve already been offered, all of a sudden what happened was my fault, because I missed the ferry, which was 100% their fault to begin with, ultimately led up to the client not wanting me to work the next day, when they already said yes to me working hours after that… Big shock, she never responded to my pay request… In my 12 years of working in this industry, this is downright the most unbelievable, outrageous experience I’ve ever had with an agency. These people have no couth and do not care about anyone but themselves. Stay away, avoid like the plague…
