Pros

Good salary. Work from home.

Cons

Two of the reasons I went to work at Dealnews.com evaporated after about a year. They were promised in a telephone interview but were later significantly changed. Specifically "we're an open book company - we share financial data with everyone" calls were discontinued to ensure only those in charge knew what was really going on. And the "profit sharing" plan where employees shared in a portion of the profits based on salary became an optional bonus plan with 1)drastically lower cash amounts and 2)at the discretion of any management person. I really don't like being lied to by en employer, especially not one to one.

Pros

DealNews is a great place to work with good compensation, flexibility, and benefits. The company respects your time and trusts you to get your job done, which makes it easier to balance work and life. Leadership seems to really care about employees.

Cons

Working remote may feel isolating at times, especially if you're not naturally outgoing or proactive. The social dynamic can seem cliquish, but making an effort to connect across teams is worth it and everyone is very welcoming.

Pros

Ability to work from home

Cons

- Lack of communication - Deceitful practices - Profits over people - I worked for this company for over a decade, we were told that we were financially doing well, no issues were ever brought up at meetings. I came into work as usual, was called into a zoom meeting and told that they were doing a reduction in force and I was being let go. No notice, no warning, and no offer to move me to another department that they were keeping. - No loyalty from the company - They hired an “advisor” months before the firing, he gathered information on all of us under the guise of getting to know us, then used that information to pick who he was putting on the chopping block. - No job stability

Hello, and thank you for the critical feedback that you have provided. We know that it is very difficult to revisit the dark day of our reduction in force in Q1 of 2023. With the tech industry losing over 240,000 jobs in the previous year, it was truly agonizing for DealNews to find itself among the companies conducting first-quarter layoffs. We carried out a reduction in force at the beginning of 2023 as a part of our focus on efficiency across the organization. We did not eliminate whole divisions. Instead, we reduced our Content Department to match the workload, and enhanced our processes by removing redundant practices and implementing new technologies and automation. Despite this past decision, we do believe that we do a good job striving each day to reflect our core values of curiosity, humility, and compassion. We want our employees to feel valued and supported in a job that they find fulfilling. We want none of our employees, many of whom have been employed for 10+ years, to worry about their job stability. We still conduct regular all-staff meetings in which we discuss the company’s revenue and profit. Moving forward, we will be able to reflect on what more we can do based on your valued feedback. We are grateful to you and to everyone who has contributed to the success of DealNews, both past and present.
