Pros

I currently work as a Lead Vehicle Artist at GIANTS Software in Brno. After reading some of the negative reviews here, I felt it was only fair to share my own experience. I have been working in the game industry for more than twenty years. Before joining a game studio, I worked as a web designer, DTP artist, and contractor creating architectural visualizations, buildings, and vehicle assets for the games industry. Throughout my career, I have worked for ten different game studios and employers, including studios developing successful AAA titles. Because of that, I believe I have a solid basis for comparing different company cultures, production pipelines, and management styles. Every studio I worked at had something unique to offer, and I genuinely enjoyed my time in each of them. I always looked forward to joining new projects, meeting talented people, learning from experienced colleagues, and seeing another game shipped with my name in the credits. Early in my career, every shipped title felt like another milestone I was proud to add to my portfolio. Whenever I felt I had reached a point where I was no longer growing professionally, I looked for new challenges. Before joining GIANTS Software, the longest I had ever stayed with a single company was four years. At the time, I honestly believed that experience would be difficult to surpass. Today, I'm approaching my seventh year at GIANTS Software, and I think that says more than any rating I could give. One of the things I appreciate most is that we are constantly improving our production pipeline. We regularly refine our tools and workflows, and employees are encouraged to contribute ideas and drive improvements. I particularly enjoy being able to take an active role in those changes. If you are proactive, motivated, and willing to take responsibility, your ideas are genuinely listened to. The company also invests in creating a positive working environment. Our Brno office is modern, located in the city centre on the fourteenth floor, with excellent accessibility and a fantastic view. Beyond the workspace itself, employees have access to an on-site gym, a table tennis room, table football, and a dedicated chill-out area. These facilities encourage people to take short breaks, stay active, and socialize throughout the day. Every new employee is welcomed with a welcome dinner, which helps people build personal connections from day one. We also have company-wide summer retreats where colleagues from all offices can meet in person. These events make a real difference. It's much easier to collaborate with someone when you've had the chance to get to know them outside of emails and online meetings. The compensation package is also competitive. In addition to regular salary, the company provides Christmas bonuses and performance bonuses linked to the commercial success of our games. This year I also had the opportunity to spend more time with our CEO. I came away with a very positive impression. I found him approachable, thoughtful, and genuinely interested in both the company and its employees. Meeting the person leading the company gave me even more confidence in its future. No company is perfect, and everyone's experience will naturally be different. I'm simply sharing mine. After more than twenty years in the industry and experience across many studios, I can honestly say that GIANTS Software has been one of the most rewarding places I've worked. It continues to challenge me, gives me opportunities to grow, and has kept me motivated year after year. That is probably the strongest recommendation I can give.

Cons

Occasional fire drills from the 14th floor make for a bit of unexpected cardio.

Pros

- Ownership. You can work freely and autonomously. Generally, your expertise is trusted, but you are given direct support when needed. - Colleagues were fantastic. Although serious in terms of output, the social aspect of the company was excellent. A community feeling. - Quite a wholesome franchise, which presents unique challenges and experiences.

Cons

Wages: - Terribly misaligned with other game studios. Some departments even received minium wage. Only does a junior position make sense at Giants. Get in, get out. Experienced professionals would likely never accept the salaries offered within production/dev teams. - Awful and illogical pay structure for junior, senior, lead positions. In one instance, a new intermediate employee was given a higher salary than their own Lead. - There are very little studios in the area to compete with, so this is leveraged to exploit . Not happy with salary, even if it can clearly be benchmarked with other transparent game companies within EU? Oh well. Even if you excel. Stay or go. - No relocation support. Overtime exploitation: - Exploitative expectation towards overtime. In some disciplines there is an expectation to work unpaid overtime. - Renumeration for overtime is 'promised' as part of the end of year bonus which, for the most part, is laughable. - Overtime is not officially documented by the employer. Apparently, this goes against the regulations within Germany, but Giants is willing to pay the fine if spot-checked. Uneven working enviroments between company studio locations: - Swiss office (Headquarters) )has an in-house chef, on-site free gym, and better equipment (height adjustable desks). No substitues for these office benefits are available in their other studios. Tech: - You generally will not interact with industry standard game engines/tools. Always good to adapt to custom engines, but the scope is greatly reduced compared with leading engines. - Limited technical capacity means the gameplay development of the franchise goes very slowly. - Not comparable to AAA development. In many areas, the franchise falls very short in terms of technical achievements. If you are seeking to work on the frontier of gaming technology, this is not the place. Communication: - Good luck. Management & CEO: - German Studio Manager was great. - CEO has my complete dissaproval.

Pros

It paid my bills and funded my hobbies.

Cons

A Masterclass in Toxic Leadership and Career Stagnation If you value your career, avoid this company at all costs. The environment is suffocated by extreme unprofessionalism, blatant favoritism, and a deeply paranoid executive team. The Worst Offenders: Paranoid & Manipulative Leadership: In a deeply disturbing breach of professional boundaries, the CEO actually sent "spies" to the parking lot to monitor what cars employees drove—using this to justify suppressing our salaries. Furthermore, executive leadership completely abandoned the company's fourth office, providing zero support or direction for three entire years. An Echo Chamber of "Yes Men": There is no room for actual talent, pushback, or innovation here. The workplace is plagued by proximity bias and overrun with sycophants who refuse to challenge bad ideas. This spineless culture is actively destroying any chance of genuine company growth or internal success. Zero Progression or Financial Transparency: There are absolutely no advancement opportunities. Worse, there is zero clarity regarding raises or bonuses. The compensation structure is deliberately opaque to keep employees underpaid and in the dark. Bottom Line: This place is a dead-end run by a paranoid CEO and a team of enablers. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
