Pros
When i first got to GVC II , I just got my CDL and I heard about this company through a friend who worked there. They informed me they are growing fast, so they will not only train you but you will get your full time hours plus overtime if i was available for it, so i said sign me up. He was right , i completed my training and was on the road getting overtime within the month. As i need assistance with navigating through the city I contact my dispatchers and they always assisted me either with directions or removing trips that i couldn't get to within the window expected (30 minutes) . I was aware this was a great place to start my career because whenever I had a situation on the road dispatch or operations assisted me with that, also while on the road , they have Road supervisor near me watching me and if i ever had a question they pulled over and assisted me. Also management has an open door policy and its true, i came in multiple times with questions or even suggestion and they immediately assisted me . Emails get sent out keeping us updated on overtime availability, and even opening for job opportunities, again leaving it to us to take advantage of opportunities . As an adult I’m responsible for myself attendance was what i took pride in and this allowed me to take full advantage of my situation and the company valued that , I appreciate my time here and will continue to recommend people to this growing company I had to leave this part in my review because I read something that was so misleading from a reviewer, subject About leaving on time. I always worked in an office but did uber part time, so i always had office hours and made my own time in uber, In transportation with Set routes that is different because of traffic in NYC, but YOU CONTROL YOUR HOURS. I had end time of 10pm and some night i left earlier than that and the later night i was at the base by 10:45pm due to traffic but all those time I controlled. I contact my dispatcher and informed them I’m running late, and they assisted by covering the trips or giving me alternate route to get to my destination faster again up to YOU TO CONTROL end time, this isn't office hours. at the same time i came here to work, i wanted hours to make money , so if I left a little later than my end time i got Paid well for it, so i didn't mind, NYC Traffic. Also sometimes, People get GVC II confused with GVC school bus, are you sure all these review are for the CORRECT company. Big difference in the two.
Cons
Cons - would have to be the drivers lobby, in that lobby we have cable tv, coffees station, snack machine, even a Union Shop Stewart there. So a you can easily get caught up chatting with other drivers and lose track of time and sometimes in that driver lobby you hear to so many stories without facts, it’s like gossip hour, I got caught up in this entertainment a few times while waiting for my route/trips. Advice – make friends but don’t get comfortable in there, it can be like High school all over again lol
