Pros
The special effects industry is interesting and exciting. Pyrotechnics are fun (hey, explosions). There's an opportunity to transition from warehouse work to touring, where you'll make more money and get to travel with a big-name band or show. The work itself isn't difficult.
Cons
Work is often hectic due to factors beyond anyone's control -- if the client changes their mind, you'll scramble to accommodate them, no matter what else is going on. Every single mistake, no matter what the cause, will be the warehouse's fault. Company is owned by a private equity firm. The company treats people like they are disposable. They underpay their staff and fire the ones who complain. Management aggressively discourages any attempt to negotiate for higher pay or better working conditions. The perception within the Pyrotechnics industry is that Pyrotek will take anyone off the street, but once they've received sufficient training, the skilled employees will transition to an employer who treats them better.
