Great dedicated people, fun to be around, highly technical and required out-of-box thinking. I got to work on advanced projects as part of "future think" on product topologies and designs two and three years out.
Cons
Remnants sold to SunPower -- we couldn't make enough profit to stay independent. Was part of RIF that caused a downsize of ~ 50% or better over time if I understand properly what transpired. But on to bigger and better things!
Compensation and benefits were very good, but the scope of the people that I worked with were great! Everyone was willing to help you out and doing their part to help the company succeed.
Cons
Sometime communications did not trickle down as well as I thought they should
I was only there for a short contract, but it's a cool little place. Making a product that has a real purpose rather than some consumerist gimmick or social media app. No managerial fads or nostrums, just people who know what they're doing, talking plain English and being left to do it without being micromanaged.
Cons
Probably doesn't meet the minimum standard of glossy Austin startup - north of 6th St, lots of middle-aged engineers in cubicles - not a nerfgun, skateboard or mustache wax dispenser be seen. In the 10 weeks I was there no one ever referred to anyone as a "rockstar" or a "ninja," for shame.
