Pros

Work from home, make your own appointments

Cons

Have to make monthly phone calls to participants, some of them you can never get a hold of until the last day of the month so it's constant stress. Some of the people you work with are demanding and self-entitled. They expect you to fix all of their problems even though they are in a self-directed program where they are supposed to be doing things on their own with your guidance only. Budget cuts every year means you will be having to write a lot of budget amendments to the State to keep you participants happy. Lots of responsibilities, sometimes you work 50 hours/week to catch up on all of your work, but do not get paid OT due to being an exempt employee.

Pros

Work from home, decent benefits and decent pay

Cons

Incompetent management and Human Resources department. Rampant fraud and plenty of dirty politics. You will be working well over 50 hours every week. There were plenty of weeks I worked 60-70 hours and a few I eclipsed 80 hours. Unless you are extremely hard up for a job I would not recommend working for this company. Upper management is extremely disorganized and incompetent. If you go to them with issues or concerns you have they will put a target on you and make your job miserable. The company constantly turns a blind eye to Medicaid fraud and allows conflicts of interest to occur to benefit the Participants employees as the company benefits by people defecting from Family Care into IRIS because they know how much money they can make providing care for a loved one or friend. The program is supposed to be about natural supports providing free services but in reality a majority of the Participants are encouraged to enroll in IRIS for the pay. It's not uncommon for an entire allocation to go towards one family member providing cares. I had parents quit their jobs because IRIS would pay them in excess of $10,000 per month, some of it tax free. This is what is confusing. You are trained and told that Natural Supports cannot be paid however all a participant needs to do is complain to management and everything you've been trained to do is thrown out the window. This company does nothing but burn through tax payer dollars. I don't see how anyone in good conscious could work for TMG knowing that you are not helping the Participants of the program but rather just filling the pockets of greedy family members and friends. What's crazier is some families are encouraged to become unlicensed 1-2 bedroom Adult Family Homes and told by management that this would be in their best interest as they would then not have to pay taxes on their income. I had some parents making $15K-$20K per month and if the participants allocation went so too did their "fee's". And don't even get me started about HR. Try going to them with an issue and you become the issue. This is a very sexist company and unless you want to lose your sanity I urge you to avoid TMG at all cost. It surprises me that DHS hasn't held them accountable for the fraud they have been encouraging. This is a very dirty company. Do not waste your time applying you will be disappointed.
