Cool connections, cool projects focused on local business and initiatives, great people and a great product. Never a shortage of "things to do" and always evolving/adapting to what the community needs

Cons

Pros

- I worked in the retail end of The Local Store for three years and learned so much. My position held great experience and Management fostered my passions for visual merchandising and product selection. I had great communication and relationships with my manager and all other staff. - You get to be in an amazing environment where you help with events, talk with local community members, help customers find amazing local gifts, and be in the heart of the Eau Claire community. - My Manager always honored my requests off and full-time staff are always friendly. My time at Volume One allowed me to obtain hands on experience to develop skills with retail management, website e-commerce management, visual merchandising, and product selection. The owner listened to my ideas and thoughts about the future plans of the store and asked for my input on my opinion about challenges and changes in the store experience. - Management always worked to be inclusive in the hiring process. - As a sales associate, you learn how to multitask and handle new exciting projects everyday. The manager is always there to help if needed and its a very busy job!

Cons

- The salary for a part time position was great, but not amazing. Management has increased it to be competitive, and you do get part-time wages increased with duration of experience. - There are a lot of expectations for a small media entertainment / retail company. People have strong opinions when it comes to what they love and the community. Learning how to work with customers over phone/email/in-person is key to be successful in this environment. - During busy season The Local Store has a lot of project management that needs to be implemented. We do custom orders, shipping, backstock, floor management, and product receiving. It can be challenging to complete all tasks with just one person (or two people.)
