Documentation Engineer

The Documentation Engineer is responsible for preparing and issuing technical supplier documentation in line with project specifications and timelines. The role supports projects led by a Project Manager and ensures that all documentation meets customer requirements defined in the purchase order.

The DE collaborates with internal teams (such as design, instrumentation, and product teams) and external stakeholders to gather inputs. They also handle revisions and technical clarifications in coordination with customers and project stakeholders.

The role involves delivering accurate documentation in collaboration with the document support team and reporting to the Documentation Manager and Project Manager.

The DE is expected to proactively communicate project updates, resolve challenges, and contribute to continuous improvement and standardization of documentation processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Clarify technical documentation details in coordination with the Project Engineer, customer, and other project teams (e.g., Product Selection team).

  • Review and provide inputs/comments on incoming project documentation, including content and schedule, before the kick-off meeting.

  • Issue agreed documentation to the customer after completing the technical review.

  • Monitor and communicate the documentation schedule and progress throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Participate in project kick-off meetings and prepare WBS and documentation schedules.

  • Issue delivery documents as per the agreed timeline and maintain them in DMS (Kronodoc).

  • Track and update document status in systems (DMS/PDM).

  • Organize documentation with Document Assistants and Engineers.

  • Communicate progress, resolve issues, and report to stakeholders.

  • DE will be in interaction with multiple interest groups: customers, project managers, project teams, sales, marketing and RTD on daily basis.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Diploma or B.E./B.Tech. in Engineering or a related discipline, with a few years of experience in an engineering role.

  • Knowledge of field devices and/or experience with documentation management systems is an added advantage.

  • Systematic, cooperative, and customer-oriented approach.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail and timelines.

  • Strong communication skills with good command of written and spoken English; additional languages are a plus.

To Succeed

To succeed in this position, you should have hands-on attitude towards the work. You should be able to solve problems with different stakeholders and willing to bring up development ideas and new best practices. On the other side you should have the ability and earlier experience from tasks where your tasks have required paying close attention to details and working individually for long time periods. Documentation has deadlines which must be respected. While following schedules of multiple projects you are able and willing to communicate of possible problems and do necessary follow up in solving them. It is considered as an advantage if you have experience in using DMS systems. A good command of MS Word and MS Excel and preferably Adobe programs. You speak and write English fluently. Any other language is an advantage.
