Anyone else become more socially awkward since WFH? I feel like if I went RTO I’d really just constantly unintentionally embarrass myself.

How should I handle my coworker who is constantly interrupting me while I'm speaking? We're at the same level, but he only ever interrupts me. It feels personal.
Fidelity Just Ended Hybrid Work. Is This the Start of a New RTO Wave? I think so. But, their logic is somewhat flawed. The article says “Fidelity is concerned that remote work deprives employees, especially younger generations, of valuable networking and learning opportunities.” However, the mandate is for all employees, not just junior or newer employees. Which insurance company will be the first to eliminate hybrid work? https://www.inc.com/kaylawebster/fidelity-just-ended-hybrid-work-is-this-the-start-of-a-new-rto-wave/91338038
Is our field AI-proof? Everyone says we have nothing to be worried about but ai has changed how do my job so much in just a couple months. I can’t see it ever letting up
Remote workers with kids, what are you planning on doing with your kids this summer? Do you keep them at home and try to work, or do you spend the money for daycare? Last year, I kept them home and it was a complete nightmare, but I'm not sure I want to cough up $2,500 a month on childcare, just so I can keep my home quiet enough to work.
Which jobs in the insurance space are WAY overpaid for the work they do? ....... It's Actuaries isn't it?
Haha I felt the same way. I never realized how much socializing I did at the office until I started working from home. I'm so used to working in silence and not interacting with anyone these days that I feel awkward and out of practice whenever we do have meetings.
It does take some adjustment. When I starting working remotely I really had problems with it, it was just too distracting trying to work in my own home. But over time that flipped, and I became more productive in relative isolation. When I had to return to the office, it was like everything annoyed me. I was so used to having everything the way I wanted it. But, like anything else, I got used to it. It's kind of remarkable how adaptable we can be.
I probably am more awkward, but I think I’m just more self conscious if anything. I felt really weird and awkward having everything on the computer and not face to face, zoom meetings and the like. I felt way more comfortable in person, now that's flip flopped since working remote
lol yes. I moved to a new state 2 years ago and have had to make friends the old fashioned way. I’ve done well, strangely enough. But now I am about to start a new hybrid role and that’s my biggest concern.
I feel like more socially selective is how I feel :) being stuck in social situations I didn’t ask for irritates me so I just try to pick and choose what I attend in person to avoid being around others that bug me. I did have to re-learn how to put together an actual outfit (not just shoulders up on zoom!) and have less patience for people I don’t like (just make an effort to not attend things when the group isn’t worth it to me).
Yes me!
I did! I ended up getting a side gig in retail just so I could practice how to have a conversation to prep for being RTO at the beginning of this year. It helped IMMENSELY. idk how I forgot how to have Casual conversations with people but you don’t need to do what I did.
