Does American Eagle Outfitters offer dental insurance?

Pros

It’s hard to completely hate working here because you love your coworkers, the relaxed environment of the workplace (especially how relaxed the dress code is), the flexibility of working in the lab, the discount is great, and the sample sales are a cool perk.

Cons

It’s easy to get frustrated though when you’re not paid a living wage, have no benefits such as health insurance or PTO. When newer lab associates are paid more than lab associates that have been with the company longer. When training is sub-par and the task of training is put onto other lab associates. When you have no control over when you go to lunch or leave work (even if you’re scheduled until a certain time), it doesn’t matter if your availability is from 9-5 management will change your schedule to an earlier start time without asking and without notice. If it’s a busy day you may be told to take a shortened lunch, and finally you are considered a “part time” employee even if you work 9-5, Monday-Friday. All with little room for career growth that’s promised in the interview which is why you take the job (and most likely the pay cut to get your foot in the door at the company). The hard workers are reward by being stuck in the department by management who doesn’t want to give them up, (not recommended for better jobs and able to climb the career ladder). Others either quit because they’re fed up with the job or are lucky enough to get a job in a different area of the company.

Advice to Management

Please STOP saying you appreciate your employees when it very obviously shows how much you don’t. So much of the company’s success is based on the lab store associates and yet there isn’t anything to show for it. If you want to appreciate lab associates, all associates should be paid the same living wage (new associates should NOT be making more than experienced ones that are training them), with health insurance and PTO. That’s the bare minimum. When that is done the turnover rate won’t be so high and your quality of workers will be better.
