What is the hiring process like at Corning?

      Corning reviews

Good people and camaraderie, terrible ways of managing and operating.

      Pros

Great people. Everyone has a sense of humor and is very open to talk about hobbies and interests. The people made the job worth doing. My boss was also great on a personal level, but on a professional one not so much. Getting time off (either paid or unpaid) was relatively easy and flexible.

      Cons

Absolutely HORRIBLE management practices. The level of micromanagement is insane. The amount of training necessary to do any task is quite extensive. Ok fine, I understand that's necessary for this particular industry, but management will move at a glacial pace to get someone fully trained and signed off on anything. The company also will continually cycle through temps and allow their contracts to end, but then they turn around and hire new contractors all over again. The pay is also not very competitive.

      Pros

Corning Singapore has a very warm culture, very embracing and friendly colleagues. It's the first company where I've been to where there are no fixed lunch groups, everyone goes lunch with everyone.

      Cons

Corning has a complex matrix setup, so that will take some time for one to get used to and get the head around who's who.
