Pros
You can meet some pretty fun and cool people, shift workers dont get to go out fri/sat nights so you do make friends willing to do stuff on weekdays/nights instead.
Cons
You have to deal with a managerial class that spends all their time wasting yours to justify their jobs to the head muppets at the board executive, and keep the wild, flailing incompetents running the Government Inspector roles from wildly overreacting to something utterly trivial and re-stripping the place of its license to operate. Said Board Executive muppets have absolutely no idea how to run a casino and barely understand how to run hotels and restaurants. This entire company is kept afloat solely by the efforts of low level employees and their direct supervisors. BE's sole job is to annoy the hell out of all frontline staff in their desperate attempts to get the companies license back from bloodthirsty muppets in government who don't care about the 5k+ employees to work here and only care about getting a scalp. Nanny state policies and philosophies, especially post-royal commission, cause scenarios where GI's will force crown to make absurd changes that benefits nobody, staff or customer, purely because of some wierd interpretation of a job description or title. Common sense has literally no place in this complex and hasn't since it was called Burswood. GI's are professionals at nitpicking irrelevant things that dont matter and ignoring more serious issues because its too much paperwork. They'll happily fine you personally for something easily fixed/solved and trivial though if you're a licensed employee and you give them any excuse. They might aswell be working for crown themselves frankly in that sense, the parallels between them and management are many. Not to mention Blackstone, the investment firm that bought out Crown, didn't think 5 seconds ahead of time when they overspent on this company, and now that their many billions of US$ loans are suddenly acruing interest, they've gone full vulture capitalist and are gutting the staff and services at all Crown complexes to meet their own standards to simply hand this place over to some other casino group in the near future. Who would be silly enough to buy this place? no idea. Most staff are overworked and understaffed critically in many roles and this will only get worse for the near future. The future is grim because Crown have spent the last decade+, and the last 3 years since covid in particular, annoying the hell out of every customer that comes here with ever increasing numbers of absurd and nonsensicle hurdles required for them to get anywhere or do anything fun. Many of the customers favourite machines+table games have been removed because they dont make enough money for the soulless AI running data analytics. And who gets to hear them complain about it every day? you do! But dont worry eventually most players will just stop coming because Crown has priced out anyone not a rich boomer from playing any of their games, which is half the reason anyone comes here at all, and the customer numbers will continue to fall because soulless AI cannot run a hospitality and entertainment complex for much longer, whilst ignoring all customer and frontline-staff feedback for over a decade. Corporate office jobs are often -very- low paid, until you're at the point where you are negotiating your own salary that is, and you're best buddies with high ranking HR staff and your own supervisors, expect to be exploited and work long hours mon-fri currying favour and hoping some boomer clinging to their position by their fingertips finally gives up and retires. If you are not working under the EBA contract that table games, security, surveillance, e-games and F+B staff work under, if crown decide to make yet another round of cuts/redundancies, you will likely not be informed, and they are entirely capable of firing you on the day, no warning.
