What is the company culture like at Tubi?

      Tubi reviews

      Great team but poor leadership

      Senior product manager - technical
      Former employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

A lot of talented peers and the culture is overall good. The pay and benefits are great, but not a lot of external perks

      Cons

Many moving pieces in the new leadership and it is tricky to navigate. Few leaders did not feel like leading but rather motivated by self growth.

      It is good

      Front desk secialest
      Former employee
      Los Angeles, CA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Good pay and good company culture

      Cons

Can be kind of a demanding job

      Needs a hard reset

      Anonymous employee
      Current employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Fun, quirky brand that users are passionate about Kind peers who tend to enjoy working together Decent size, not too big Mostly remote

      Cons

Increasing alignment and merging with Fox in many orgs making things more bureaucratic. Incredibly poor track record on gender equality, especially in product and engineering. Boys club vibe in upper leadership, no female representation (despite gender discrimination lawsuits) Mixed messaging on RTO/remote from different org leaders is contributing to a culture of inequality and location bias. Unqualified leaders, many of whom were promoted in the early days, with no subject matter expertise outside of Tubi or Fox and no experience managing other leaders. Culture is toxic, with many leaders always out for themselves and not serving their teams or the company culture. There’s a lot of pointing fingers and’s escalation between leaders and ICs are collateral damage.

Run don't walk away from this place.

      Senior product designer
      Former employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      - The CEO is amazing. She is smart and ready to have Tubi move forward. - The people here are mostly amazing and have great ideas.

      Cons

      - Executive leadership and the new CTPO. Both are just a joke. They are out for themselves and will push out anyone that is smarter then they are. - The design leader is one of the worst managers ever. He loves to hear himself talk and does it A LOT. - There is no real leadership. Anyone who tries to make the culture better gets rushed out, and anyone who doesn't just say "yes" is fired. - Toxic. It's toxic.

Great Place to Work in Beijing Tech

      Software engineer
      Current employee
      Beijing, Beijing
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Management cares about Beijing office, good benefits and compensation (especially hourly); the team culture is transparent; tech-driven; HR is supportive

      Cons

being far away from the business and market some tech managers lack people management skills

Pros and Cons from a Creative

      Design director
      Former employee
      Los Angeles, CA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

If you're willing to be proactive, there are many opportunities to carve out your role and work on the projects that you find interesting. - Great perks and benefits - Good salary

      Cons

Can be a very corporate political culture. You really have to learn how to work within the system and deal with the company politics to get noticed, or to stay off people's radar that you may not work well with.

Growing company with a great culture, but high goals

      Director
      Current employee
      New York, NY
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Growing company, lots of momentum in market. Great culture

      Cons

Difficult to find path to grow

      Good

      Software engineer
      Former employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Reasonably good environment and culture for software engineers. Learning opportunities.

      Cons

Not much cons, though one thing to note that large portion of the team is in China. So, you may need to deal with time-lag.

      Avoid

      Senior software engineer
      Former employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      - Don't need to pay for haircuts, the stress makes it all fall out - Some teams are reasonable to be on, but you have to get lucky. - Tubi is well known for producing the weirdest super bowl ad of all time. - Pay is ok. But 401k match not vesting until 4 years is a sham given you won't be here that long

      Cons

      - Very disorganized company. You'll be told to build things or implement ideas this week and reprimanded for doing them the next week. - Always on culture, 60+ hour weeks are consistent. Every oncall shift is a nightmare, I often received 10-20 phone calls a day from the alert system at all hours. - Engineers/ICs get absolutely no input into estimations or timelines. You will be told to do things over a weekend that would normally take 2 months even if all goes well. Managers are quite frankly delusional. - Managers will give an Android engineer access to Copilot and expect them to spin up kubernetes clusters. Who needs expertise when you have AI? - Reorgs every few months - Communication is locked down to the point of every team having its own private slack channel. If you aren't in the right circles you will simply not have the information needed to succeed. - If you are creative or need even a little bit of autonomy, this is not the place to be. You will be told what to build, how to build it, and how long you have to complete it. Very little room for ideas to bubble up.
