Don't work here if you think Wilson Bank and Trust is a meritocracy,.. its not
Pros
You'd be better off being just a lower-level worker at a place like Chase Bank or Regions Bank than busting your butt in a higher role at Wilson Bank and Trust. I decided to leave to work for a bank where the corporate folks are from real competitive markets, so you can actually learn from the best in banking. At Wilson, everybody gets an officer title, but it's just a trick to keep folks from leaving and does not mean anything. Every year you stay at Wilson Bank, its like taking your career back five years, and before you know it, you're stuck with no way out and way behind in what you should be learning for a career. In my opinion this is the case for most of the people you will be working with who have been at Wilson for a while, but they have no idea how behind they are. The whole religious thing they push feels like they're just trying to get the customers to trust them, so nobody questions how outdated they really are inside. At least Chick-Fil-A has good chicken. It's like Wilson Bank cares more about throwing events in the community than being a serious bank. Putting them on my resume almost wrecked my career, it was hard to get taken seriously by other banks I interviewed by having this Lebanon based bank on my resume, but I finally got out of there and back to learning and being challenged in serious banking elsewhere. The people are nice, but they're stuck in the past, and management talks to you like you're a kid. I hope this helps a future employee or that someone actually tries to fix this at the bank someday, if they stay around long enough to see it change. If you are a white, male from Wilson County it is easy path to the top or a mousy female who knows her place
Cons
Not a strong future here based on outdated and closed minded and backward organization
