I applied online. The process took 3+ months. I interviewed at 40|86 Advisors
Interview
3 Rounds. 1st round was a friendly chat. 2nd round was a short round of 1 on 1 interviews with a few key players. 3rd round was all afternoon with severl people 1 on 1 + a presentation and dinner.
The hiring manager was very friendly and upfront. He communicated fairly well as did the HR contact. About half the folks I talked with were informative and seemed to have a genuiune intersest in my background and how I would fit. The other half seemed like they didn't want to be there and some where down right unprofessional. It seemed like someone was making them take part in the process when they really didn't want to. I did spend a LOT of time waiting in a room by myself while they drummed up more people to talk to. I'd say in a 4 hour interview, I spend at leaset 1 full hour by myself in a room.
The dinner was pretty uncomfortable as well. You'd think you want some people that could carry a conversation to come? Afterword, Instead of talking about how great a company it sounded like, my wife could only talk about how boring everyone was.
There is also a air of superiority around there, like they're better than everyone else. That was the thing that rubbed me the worst. You are a rinky dink shop in Indiana, not Goldman and you're not in NY. Get over yourselves.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at 40|86 Advisors (Indianapolis, IN) in Apr 2022
Interview
HR calls and walks through your background and about the job details and relays the message to the manager. Then hiring manager interviews and maybe one more after depending on what department you are in.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at 40|86 Advisors (Carmel, IN) in Jul 2013
Interview
Began with a short phone screen from lone recruiter/HR manager at 40|86. Nice and informative, and was invited on the phone to speak with a senior analyst on the phone the next day.
The second phone conversation was more informative than the first, still along the same lines of the first round, just simply walking through my resume, background, and cultural fit. One thing that was stressed was your PASSION FOR THE INVESTMENTS INDUSTRY.
Invited for an on-site 3rd round, where I met with 4 team members of the group I was to join. All were very nice, easy going conversations. Simply walked through resume, requirements of job, and how I would fit into the culture. All are hard-working, dedicated, and intelligent people. Was invited for 4th and final round interview within the same week.
I met with 4 individuals at a nice breakfast place near the office to have a nice meal and conversation discussing my background and the job. Seemed to be a very informal thing to assess how "human" and conversational you are--to make sure you are not an Excel robot. Then met with the president of the company. who is a great individual to speak with. Continued to meet with 3 others within the group, and whole process lasted about a half day or so.
Was called roughly 4 hours later and offered the job, discussed salary and benefits on the phone. Was given 24 hours to accept/reject verbally.
Was very happy with the quick -moving process, and the people I met with. Would recommend interviewing to all.
