There were two rounds of interviews for me. Most of the interviewers are editors who are pleasant to work with. The overall impression was positive. The interviews last about 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Question 1
Describe your design process. What is your biggest strength as a designer?
I applied through university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at 826 National
Interview
It was a pretty typical interview with the recruiter and the director you would work under. They ask easy questions and are interested in how you fit into the goals of the company, like whether you're interested in growing in the non-profit world.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at 826 National (Chicago, IL) in May 2015
Interview
Very informal, just one round phone interview. It was very to the point, clear cut interview questions (since this internship is targeted at college students and recent graduates). You can tell the staff is incredibly passionate about what they do. I interviewed with the Chicago branch (826CHI) and the woman I talked to was extremely friendly. At the end they try to gauge your creativity and fit for the organization by giving you a two minute "homework assignment." Mine was to, in two minutes, write a brief story about a alligator, camel, and a gallon of milk.
