      Software Developer Interview

      7 Apr 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Newark, DE
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at A. Duie Pyle (Newark, DE) in Mar 2016

      Interview

I submitted my resume and cover letter on my university's career site. I was accepted for an interview about a month later. It was a 1:1 with an HR person. She had a sheet of questions and read off them one by one. It was weird because she asked a lot about my project experience, but didn't know anything about the technologies I had used. Should have been an IT person there as well.

      Question 1

Talk about a time that you had to deal with a difficult teammate.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at A. Duie Pyle in May 2025

      Interview

Pros: The interview process was well-organized and professional. The team members I met during the panel were intelligent, welcoming, and clearly passionate about their work. The technical discussions were engaging and gave me a good sense of the company’s culture and expectations. Cons: The offer process, unfortunately, did not align with the transparency established earlier in the process. During the HR screening, I was told the role’s compensation range centered around a specific “sweet spot,” but the final offer came in considerably below that figure. While I completely understand that internal budgets and compensation structures can vary, clearer communication upfront would help avoid misunderstandings. In the end, I was comfortable with the offer, but I needed to request a later start date due to a family emergency that arose after my panel interview but before the offer was extended. Understandably, the company preferred someone who could start immediately, but I was encouraged to reach out upon my return in case the position remained open. I did so, especially after noticing that the same role had been reposted a few days before I came back to the U.S., but unfortunately, my follow-up emails went unanswered for several weeks. I completely understand that priorities shift and roles may be filled quickly, but a brief and honest update (even just to confirm that the position had been closed) would have been greatly appreciated. That said, I still believe this is a great company with a solid culture and dedicated leadership, you can see it reflected in how long many employees have chosen to stay. The sense of loyalty and stability among the staff speaks volumes about what it’s like to work there day to day.
