      Welder/Polisher Interview

      20 Nov 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Portland, OR
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at AGC Heat Transfer (Portland, OR) in Sept 2015

      Interview

Short weld test and interview. We discussed prior experience and toured the shop. While touring the shop, processes and expectations were explained & demonstrated. The expectation vs the actual demands were somewhat different. High quality welds were described, but then timeframe expectations for the welds were different. In the end, realities of what had to be done (fast, high temp welds that resulted in "sugared" welds that were ground down to meet deadlines) was different from what was explained/demo'd (normal speed, moderate heat, proper coloration of stainless welds).

      Question 1

What kind of welding experience do you have?
