I applied online. I interviewed at AM FRESH (Huntingdon, England) in Mar 2026
Interview
Started with telephone conversation with HR team; fairly informal and typical motivational-based questions. Second stage was interview with team managers, asking questions around experience and CV in their offices. More intense and some very probing questions. They then went on to explain how the actual job description would differ to the job advert, which came as a surprise.

Question 1
Tell me about how you manage competing priorities.
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at AM FRESH in Sept 2024
Interview
Initial telephone interview which seemed pretty relaxed and more like a conversation - was a good interview which left me a good impression of AMFresh as a place to work. Invited back for second interview on site, attended and nobody was on reception. Interview seemed good but then interviewer dropped in that he had spoken to a previous employee that was now at my current business about me which took me aback - I wasn’t expecting this and hadn’t given permission to do so. Was assured it would be fine but it managed to find it’s way back to my current line manager which, while understanding led to a pretty awkward conversation.
They chose to go with another candidate after stringing me along for a week longer than they had said with ‘they are looking at something internally with the team’ which turned out to be that they had another person to interview (I’d have been fine with that if that’s what they’d said all along!) but I would have rejected any offer due to the issue described above in any case.
Disappointing and could have led to more severe repercussions. Lessons are if you interview with finance and you have a current colleague who used to work for AM Fresh they will speak to them whether you want them to or not and therefore any confidentiality you have with them will go out the window.
