I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at AND Digital (London, England) in Dec 2021
Interview
I applied for this role and put the whole effort in preparing for it. On the day of the call, the recruiter kept the camera off while mine was on.
I had the call booked for 30 minutes but the call lasted about 10 minutes, max. The recruiter asked a few questions but talked as if she was rushing me.
Didn't even ask me why I wanted to work for AND and didn't give me the chance to ask my own questions.
It's a shame because I heard good things about the company, but my interview process was the worst I've had.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at AND Digital in Nov 2022
Interview
The interview was split into 4 phases and is quite rigorous. I'll highlight all phases below for someone who may go through it. 1. An initial call with a recruiter to gauge who you are, current experience, projects you've worked on and any experience (e.g. bootcamp) etc. They'll also tell you a little about AND. Mainly speak about team-working and projects. 2. A technical exam. On the coderbyte platform, you get 2 katas to answer. These can be a little hard, (although labelled easy on the platform) but are solvable. You must solve in one sitting so get ready before you press start. 3. Once you've completed this , it's time for a technical interview. At this stage I hadn't heard from the recruiter as all the spaces for the intake had been filled, but once I contacted them they informed me I could apply at a different location. So you have to be a bit proactive. Anyway the technical interview is split into two parts. Youre given a case study and around 1-2 weeks to create a backend and frontend working code for an e commerce site. You have to then present your solution to a technical person at AND and talk about the problems you located within the case study, your solutions, how AND digital has done things like this before. They're looking for good client communication as well as tech knowledge and knowledge of AND digital. I'd focus on making the front end site intuitive and tackle one of the problems really well, (e.g. include a FAQs page to tackle the problem of customers contacting customer service). 4. Once you've passed this it's time for a cultural interview. Here it's a very relaxed conversation to see who you are, see if you are the right fit for AND and AND is the right fit for you. They'll ask about how you learn, teamworking etc. 5. You'll then receive a phone call off the recruiter if you have been successful with the details of the offer usually within 24 hours. Worth the wait if you're successful! Start times can be a couple months into the future.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at AND Digital (Manchester, England) in Jan 2022
Interview
Initial video call with a recruiter where they ask about your background and skills. Followed by a simple programming task. I implemented the solution, passed all tests and even added more tests of my own.
2 weeks later the recruiter emailed me saying they decided to reject me after seeing the solution. There was no feedback. Generic rejection mail.
