I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ASM in Aug 2021
Interview
online application. Contacted by HR. Went through an introductory interview. No second round interview. Applied two times, and two times introductory interview. Rescheduled once on short notice. The interview process was nice, but the decision-making process is very strange. Gives false promising on second round interview which never took place. It seems the HR is trying to randomly pick people for interview to increase their KPI and show that they are working hard to hire...

Question 1
Willing to consider other positions in the company.
The interview process for a Process Engineer at ASM in Leuven felt quite structured and professional overall. It started with an initial screening where the recruiter asked about my background, motivation, and why I was interested in working in semiconductor process engineering. That was followed by one or two technical interviews with members of the team, where they really dug into my knowledge of thin‑film processes, deposition tools, and how I’d approach troubleshooting in a fab environment.
Later on, there was a more in‑depth discussion with the hiring manager and another senior engineer, which felt more like a conversation about problem‑solving, safety, and continuous improvement than just a classic Q&A. At one point I was asked to walk through a past project, which I thought was a great way for them to see how I analyze data, optimize processes, and collaborate with others. Overall, the process felt thorough but fair, and it gave me a clear sense that ASM in Leuven values both technical depth and the ability to work in a team.
No technical questions were asked just described previous job and I was explained about the job I am applying. Shortly after I received a final interview with top management. It has postponed several times but final one was mostly director explaining the company.
Interview was fine. Company outlook is not good currently, really bad management and pay parity to the rest of the industry. I am surprised people with high end qualification choose to work here at all.
