They were quick to schedule the initial phone interview with the hiring manager and then ghosted after. I followed up quite a few times with no response or overall update on the position and my status as a candidate.

I applied online. I interviewed at ASPCA (New York, NY) in Dec 2025
Interview
The interview process took about 3-4 months (from submission of application to job offer and background check clearance). There were 5 rounds of interviews: 1) phone screening with HR, 2) 1-1 interview with the hiring manager/director, 3) Small group panel interview with other managers/supervisors, 4) in-person skills assessment, and 5) interview with the Vice President.
The interviewers were very communicative, organized, patient, welcoming, and knowledgeable. My understanding is that the position was very competitive and the type of work involves sensitive cases, so their due diligence when selecting final candidates is necessary.

Question 1
What are your experiences and thoughts regarding humane euthanasia and being responsible for making some of those decisions?
Absolutely love the ASPCA and would still love to work for them, but in complete honesty, the interview process was not pleasant. The total process was over three months long of active interviewing, and four months since applying for over three rounds. The mental battle of that alone is very difficult. After multiple follow ups I received a generic notification that I was not moving forward almost a month after the interview. In full constructive feedback, this was an unnecessarily and almost unprofessionally long interview process. I completely recognize competitive positions, but this degree of commitment and energy should be considered unacceptable, even if the job is offered. I hope the ASPCA can improve their processes to be more efficient and considerate of both sides. The interviews themselves were very pleasant and appropriate.
