      Interview

Received an interview request about 2 weeks after submitting my application. 20 minute phone interview with talent manager. The questions were fair and straightforward, but it felt very robotic and rushed. It was clear the interviewer was reading from a script the entire time, and they never asked me any follow up questions or reacted to my responses. I got a rejection email from an automated no-reply address the next day. The process felt overall very impersonal and made me wonder if they already had an internal candidate in mind and were just going through the motions.

      Interview questions [2]

      Question 1

How do our values resonate with you?

      Question 2

Why are you interested in Achievement First and this role?

      Interview

      1. The recruiter continually missed deadlines that she set for herself and was late to several of the conversations we had. I tried to be flexible, but this was definitely a pattern that persisted throughout the process. 2. I had to take off work for a 4-hour interview. They were impressed with me, but ultimately didn't offer me the position. Many of the interview questions involved role-playing scenarios. They would have me go through the scenario once, provide feedback, and have me do it again with feedback. 3. Both of the principals zoned-in on Diversity, Equity and Inclusiveness questions. I'm a white male and part of me thought that they did this because of my privilege. I'm sure they ask this of every candidate, but when they thought that I didn't do well handling one of the questions, they definitely asked additional ones. 4. After several months of communication with the recruiter, they were basically going to offer me a lower-level operations position in which I would be traveling from school-to-school during COVID-19. This did not appear safe to me, so I declined.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

-What would you do if you heard someone say that they didn't see color? -A teachers is not engaged in professional development. How would you respond? -Tell me your personal why. -You overhear a staff member saying that an upset parent doesn't like Achievement First. What do you do?

      Interview

I had a phone interview that went well and then a Zoom meeting with other candidates as well. I thought the process was demeaning, unrealistic, and counter to the values they say talk about.
