I completed an initial phone call where I was told my technical knowledge was largely unimportant to the hiring staff. I was told my pay would be 40,000 a year and I would start at help desk. I was asked to take an ACT style pattern recognition test which I failed because I was a little drowsy when I took it and I hadn't studied for it. I was told I wasn't of a high enough caliber to work there. At no point did anyone bother to find out what my level of technical skill was and the whole process was quite disheartening.
