      Desktop Support Engineer Interview

      25 Nov 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Adyen (New York, NY) in Nov 2021

      Interview

Did an interview for a non-specialized position, pretty pleasant but wasn't offered 4 interviews in. My assumption is during the technical portion, I was expected to know networking ports & acronyms of protocols off the top of my head despite this position not completely needing to know more than network fundamentals since it is not involved in web design as stated during the recruiting process. If someone knows enough to be a network administrator, JAMF, Bash & level 2/3 hardware/application support for MAC OSX, they should be a Systems Administrator not a Level 1 Desktop Support Engineer. Also to note, companies should be able to determine whether or not you're fit for the non-specialized / non-C level roles in 3 interviews, not 6.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Daily workflow. JAMF administration. Network Administration. (ports & acronyms for protocols) Bash terminology.

      Desktop Support Engineer Interview

      28 Jun 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Adyen (New York, NY) in Feb 2024

      Interview

The process is supposed to be 5 steps. They seem to involve a lot of people you won't necessarily interact with in the role. In some interviews I was asked if I had already had an interview with X person so it does seem like they don't coordinate the steps well. They seem to ask a lot of definitions versus how to prove you can work in the software which I found odd. They have an ancient way of doing things from my perspective. Seemed like they wanted someone who could spit out definitions and answer every question to the book. They do want someone who is proficient in Linux because that is how they process everything.. It is an average interview to someone who knows linux but can be difficult to someone who is used to using enterprise software to resolve issues and not linux.

      Interview questions [3]

      Question 1

What is the definition of Smart Groups in Jamf
      Answer question

      Question 2
