      Marketing Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Agilent Technologies

      Interview

I was contacted by an internal recruiter who thought I would be a good fit for the role. A week or so later, I got an invitation to a first stage interview. Whilst everyone who interviewed me seemed very friendly, the structure of the interview was less so. There were three people, including the hiring manager, and for an hour, they asked me what seemed like 100 questions, leaving very little time for me to ask any. I got the impression they were more interested in what you could offer them than the other way around. After abruptly ending the interview citing another meeting, I was told I would hear back about the next stage. Several weeks later, I hear nothing and had no communication about what was going on. I then contacted the internal recruiter who said he was catching up with the hiring manager and would provide me with feedback. I heard absolutely nothing, and having secured another role in that time, then reached out to say I was no longer interested. He also ignored this email too. A shocking example of poor candidate experience. If someone spends time preparing and participating in an interview the least you can do is give them feedback, even if it's to say thank you, but no thank you. Obviously, this is not the case for Agilent, they couldn't care less. Avoid this company, communication is low down their priority list, and they couldn't care less what you want, because all that matters to them, is what you can give to them.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Agilent Technologies in Jul 2024

      Interview

Applied online. Easy screen with the recruiter. Was told there would be a panel interview in which I would present an entire marketing plan/program for an Agilent product. Incredibly detailed and very specific request. I debated at this point, as it would take hours to put together. But I did it. There were 3 weeks to prepare. The DAY BEFORE THE PRESENTATION, I was alerted that the topic (the product) was changing. FR. I explained to the hiring manager and recruiter that, hey - I have a job, and I don't have the time to change my presentation at the LAST MINUTE. The hiring manager said, OK, just go ahead with your current presentation. So I did. The questions asked during the presentation were mostly predictable, with some exceptions regarding the business category/market share that I wasn't prepared for, unfortunately. Found out later that they hired from within for the role. I wonder if the internal candidate got a heads-up on the changing presentation topic...I was disappointed, was not a great experience. Would not apply there again. I heard from former colleagues that work there - it's not that great, pretty chaotic. Most of the marketing systems are not integrated, so it's very time-consuming to get a marketing program executed. I know the benefits are outstanding, though. Routine layoffs.

LOL, I know it is the day before your scheduled presentation for the panel interview, can you change the topic?

      Interview

The interviewer concerned did nothing to relax me and conducted the interview like an interrogation. They did not welcome or like questions and became very defensive. Very much gave the impression that a decision had been made to select another candidate and that my application was an inconvenience for them.
