I was invited to interview for a role that was slightly outside my usual area of expertise, but I decided to go for it—and I’m glad I did. The interview was genuinely enjoyable, and I connected well with the team. I left feeling excited about the opportunity.
Later that same afternoon, I received a follow-up call expressing strong interest in me as a candidate. They asked about my salary expectations, which I shared, and I was told they would discuss internally and follow up. Unfortunately, I never heard back.
Weeks later, I noticed the position was reposted online with a listed salary range below what I had indicated. While I understand if the compensation didn’t align, a simple email or call to close the loop would have been appreciated. The lack of communication felt unprofessional and left me in limbo, which isn’t fair to candidates who invest time and energy into the process.
