I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Aimetis (Waterloo, ON)
Interview
I applied by email and was invited for an interview soon after. The product seems to have good potential on the marketing side.
The office was cramped and messy, doesn't look like a good work environment.
The usual tell me about yourself, etc. interview questions. The interviewer was unprepared, rude, and unprofessional. I was asked some inappropriate questions regarding my personal background that are a no-no.
I wouldn't want to work there.

Question 1
I was asked when and where did I learn English (despite having lived in Canada for many years and having a degree from a top university in an English-speaking country). Then, as I was giving an answer, the manager proceeded to make faces at me as if I was speaking a totally different language. I had never encountered such rudeness in Canada and, by the way, my English is excellent, according to every native English speaker I have dealt with professionally or personally before.

Made you to the coding test. You basically have to get perfect on the test (which is difficult) to get a call back. They have since changed the test I am sure as I saw on here that another person leaked the test. The company is very focused on engineering so I can see why they want to get the best people from UW and other software companies. After learning about the product though it is not a very exciting one. Security is pretty boring.

Not sure why you bothered to enter (fabricate?) this review at this time. We haven't interviewed for a developer since November 2014, and the last time a developer declined an offer (as you have indicated) was over two years ago. Yes, the test has been updated, and we have an excellent development staff because of our interview test.

They give you a 70 minute test, you need to solve 2 problems out of 4..that's "fair".... However:
- If you don't solve the 2 problems, you might as well walk out of that office by yourself
- They don't know your name, and don't care to know your name unless you solve 2 problems
- Even if you solve them, you may want to look somewhere else... the 70 minutes I was there, the way that manager talks to those guys is like a boy herding a flock of sheep
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
- A previous review left 2 out of the 4 problems...I'll tell you the other 2:
A- "find the first 15 prime numbers that if you add them, the result is a prime number"...so for example the first answer is 11 because 1+1 = 2 and 2 is a prime number
B- 1729 is the first number that can be obtained the following way:
9*9*9 + 10*10*10 = 1*1*1 + 12*12*12 (9 to the cube + 10 to the cube) =(1 to the cube + 12 to the cube)
Find the other numbers less than a million in which you can fit this criteria
Out of those 4 problems, if you cannot solve 2, DO NOT BOTHER to apply to this company....
Your violation of the agreement not to post the test online clearly demonstrates your trustworthiness. Our test has been changed, and we are very glad you weren't good enough to hire.
