      Back End Developer Interview

      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Diego, CA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Airspace (San Diego, CA) in May 2021

      Interview

Initially introduced via recruiter. Talked with the same engineering manager on three occasions for an hour each via Zoom. First meeting was a meet & greet. Second meeting was discussions around technical concepts. Third meeting was a live coding exercise.

      Interview questions [2]

      Question 1

Technical concepts interview: Rate your skill level on a scale of 1 - 5 for the various languages you know. For what reasons are you saying you are at that skill? What are some things you like about Go? What are some things you dislike? Talk about your experience with concurrency. What is a mutex? What is a deadlock? What is the difference between a buffered and unbuffered channel in Go? What are LIFO & FIFO? What data structures do they correlate to? Explain some key concepts about object oriented programming. Explain the difference between inheritance and abstraction. List some pros & cons of abstraction. I give you a list of numbers and then I want to know if a number exists in that list. What data structure do you use? Why? How performant is it? What if the list of numbers was in the billions?

      Question 2

Live coding exercise: Given a 32-bit int, write a program that prints the English words of the numeric value. e.g. Given 424, program outputs "four hundred twenty four", 1234 outputs "one thousand two hundred thirty four"
