I applied for a position and received a call and email for an interview. The listing was by Capitalhealth care, but the interview was at AllCare Family Medicine&Urgent Care. Prior to interviewing I tried to find as much information about the organization as possible, but it was hard to find a good presence. The ratings on glassdoor I did find were terrible, but I gave it the benefit of the doubt. I was seated in the medical facility waiting room with apparently other candidates unbeknownst to either one of us. The interview itself took place in what can be best described as a back storage room where 3 people where cramped up. The seating was unprofessional and awkward. There was no introduction of the organization or process.until my inquiry. In the small space it was hard to keep 6 feet distance , with the interviewers not wearing masks and making the comment they all had COVID recently, it became more awkward. After they fired the questions I politely thanked them for the opportunity and was ready to leave. However, they asked to wait and be seating in the waiting room again amongst patients and apparently other candidates. After waiting for another awkward 15 min we were collectively called back into the same cramped up supply room. We were asked to introduce ourselves to the other candidates, which is truly more uncomfortable as we were not consulted if we were willing to give up our privacy to other candidates. After the introduction in the small space now with more people and no mask wearing medical professionals who just had COVID, and the other candidates, they asked what suggestions we had to improve the process. After this we left and we the candidates briefly spoke expressing how unortodox the process was. What truly baffled me was that they started a bonus/incentive program for new hires and the operational manager laughed that they couldn't keep track of who did or not received the bonus. It was the worst response to an potential great stimulus to obtain more hires but if an organization isn't capable of keeping it's word and thus lacking integrity, it makes the company look even worse. What the panel did not realize is that candidates too conduct their due diligence and mitigate their risks when interviewing. Although I understand the rapid growth of the organization, how hard it is without an HR department or never saw the need to invest in professionalization of HR, I believe that it speaks volume of this organization's leadership and attempts to professionalize their process.
