      Event Coordinator Interview

      10 Aug 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Cincinnati, OH
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Alpha Events (Cincinnati, OH) in Nov 2015

      Interview

Basically, I applied for this position online and within an hour I got an interview (red flag right there). So I set up an interview for a couple of days later. When I got there, there was a sign saying the receptionist was working from home that day. Weird considering that entire point of a receptionist is TO BE IN THE OFFICE. So I sat there and filled out some basic information form and about 5 minutes later the guy took me back to "interview" me. The whole interview was him giving me extremely vague, non descriptive information about the position. He didn't even ask me any questions. I thought that's what interviews were? I left the interview unsure about what this job even was. A couple of hours later he invited me to an on-sight interview a couple of days later to see what the job would consist of. This interview was scheduled AT A COSTCO. Another red flag but I thought I would at least check it out. So I got there and learned that this job isn't "marketing" or "event planning." It was selling hair straighteners at a kiosk in Costco. It's a sleezy, mall kiosk salesperson position. In this interview he kept saying how easy it is to move up in the company. You can move up from sleezy salesperson, to sleezy salesperson manager, all the way to sleezy interviewer who pretty much lies about the position. What a great career path! Anyway, he offered me a third phone "interview" which I accepted for some reason. This was the same as the first interview, just him giving me useless information and not asking me anything. I was clearly uninterested in the position but a day later he called and offered me the position via voicemail. I never called back. Do not even waste your time with an interview here unless you actually are interested in working at a Costco selling hair straighteners. If you are, this would be a great job! The whole interview process felt sketchy and weird. Thank God the second interview was on-site so I could actually see what the job is (since almost no description is given online) and not accidentally get tricked into taking a horrible job.

      Interview

There is a phone call where they explain how you would be given experience in the field and management opportunities with hiring and coaching experience. they said they were interviewing fifteen people that day. The front counter worker just out of college. The person who interviewed me was supposed to be the director of operations. (was not qualified to be a director of anything.)
