I’m honestly feeling both really upset and frustrated about what happened. I received a confirmation email for an onsite interview with the Hiring Manager just the day before, so I made the effort to travel nearly two hours from Vancouver to Burnaby to attend.
When I arrived, instead of being welcomed or guided through the process, a colleague had to call the Hiring Manager to even confirm my interview. That’s when I was told, on the spot, that the interview was cancelled because the position had already been filled. There was no prior notice, no apology that felt sincere, and no attempt to reschedule or offer any form of accommodation.
What made it even worse is that the Hiring Manager never showed up at all. After preparing, commuting, and taking this opportunity seriously, it felt incredibly dismissive and disrespectful to be treated this way.
I understand that hiring situations can change, but the lack of communication and basic professionalism in this experience was honestly disheartening.
