      Product Operations Interview

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at AlphaSense in Mar 2026

      Interview

One week after applying, I received an email from their recruiter requesting an interview. I was informed that AI would be used to record the interview so the recruiter can focus on my answers, but there was an option to opt out. I had a 30 minute call with the recruiter going in-depth on my current and most recent roles with time at the end to ask questions about the company. I asked about the interview process and was told next steps would be an hour zoom interview with the hiring manager and another team member, then a case study that I would complete in my personal time and would then present for an hour in person (zoom was optional, but in person was preferred), and afterwards there would be three individual 30 minute interviews with stakeholders. Later that day I was asked my availability for the second interview. The second interview was scheduled the following week with the hiring manager and another manager via zoom. Once I joined on zoom, there were very short introductions and they informed me they would go in-depth on my resume with time for questions at the end. I was surprised that they asked questions about jobs listed from over 10 years ago that didn't necessarily pertain to the role I was interviewing for. I spent 40 minutes answering their questions about every role listed on my resume and it felt very intense since it was question after question and not becoming conversational at any point. Both managers were nice on the call, but it felt very surface level and I couldn't get a good sense of company culture. We wrapped up the call with 5 minutes to spare. A few days later I received an email from the recruiter thanking me for my time, but they decided not to move forward with my candidacy.
