      Electrical Engineer Interview

      21 Mar 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Costa Mesa, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Anduril (Costa Mesa, CA) in Mar 2024

      Interview

3 rounds of interviews: Began with recruiter phone call to see if my resume met qualifications. Second interview is with a "manager" or lead on electrical team to further go over resume and get more insight on your technical experience. Third round is supposed to be 4 interviews on-site taking up 4 hours of your day and focuses on technical skills. I only went up to the second round with a "manager" who was clearly not experienced as a manager and clearly seemed like someone who has not worked in defense before. He did not introduce himself, asked very interrogative questions about my work to try get as much detail as possible (I work in defense on classified/proprietary info so digging for information like that is a big red flag), and did not ask any behavioral questions that a manager normally would. He seemed like a competent and intelligent engineer but clearly not used to defense or a managerial role. Additionally, although they listed a general role with general requirements, they were specifically looking for someone specialized in batteries, HV systems, and PCB design for this particular project. They should have listed their opening as a battery engineer.

      Question 1

Talk about x, y, z on your resume in technical detail.

      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Anduril

      Interview

Recruiter Screening (first interview round) where they asked me some basic questions about myself and resume, then followed up at the end with some simple technical questions. I think I didn't do a great job explaining myself and my background which is why I didn't move on past this, but I got the technical questions right.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Asked me about a difficult project I have been a part of as well as a simple voltage divider.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Anduril (Mountain View, CA) in Dec 2025

      Interview

The interview began with a typical HR screening that talked about the company and their mission, along with the responsibilities of the role. The second interview is a 45 minute technical interview with an electrical engineer.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Voltage divider, diode drop, RC circuit analysis. The second round technical interview focused on synchronized buck converter and its primary function/operation. Along with a focus on trace capacitance, resistance, and inductance concepts that you should be familiar with when designing a PCB. Additionally, make sure you understand how to choose decoupling capacitors sizing and their function in buck/boost converter IC's.
