This was the most bizarre and probably one of the worst interview experiences ever. They approached a recruiter who approached me saying they wanted to hire me for a short contract. I had no idea about what the project was, when I asked the recruiter to ask them. The response was, apparently they liked my CV so much that they just blatantly ignored the question to give more info and wanted to interview me.
I show up for the interview and experience a somewhat hostile/aggressive line of questioning. I have interviewed with all top tech companies while their questions are tough the interviewers are quite gentle in their approach. This was just confusingly bizarre "gym locker room" type of aggression not sure why? I was questioned by the technical team about my past experience of writing stateless code for a Java backend and given their follow up questions. Not sure if they knew what stateless Java code is?
In the interview, I obviously asked a lot of questions about the project because it was a short contract and it wasn't about building something new but taking over from someone's half-written code.
After the interview they told the recruiter, given my line of questioning they didn't feel very confident with me technically. In retrospect, the entire experience was somewhat hilarious.
