I applied online. I interviewed at Applebee's (Albany, OR) in Jan 2024
Interview
The interview process itself is easy. You meet with a manager for a screening, and come back another time for another interview with a different manager.
The lack of professionalism from this specific Applebee's is what stood out the most. When I sat down with the manager, she skipped any pleasantries or "tell me about yourself" type questions and directly said, "So, what's your experience?" At first I didn't think that was much of a big deal. Later, I asked what the atmosphere was like whenever the restaurant gets busy and how cohesive the team is. She told me that she has to yell at staff up to 5 or 6 times, and justified it saying that they don't come to the window fast enough to get food out of the kitchen. This was another red flag. At the end of the interview, she told me that I would hear back by the end of the day if I'd be moving to the next interview. I got in the car when I left and told my partner that I didn't think it would be a good fit, but at least it would be temporary (I later found a job I'd like to stay at long-term).
There was no call, text, or email by the end of the day. Then no communication the next day. Two days after the interview, I sent an email asking for a status update. No response. Two days after that I called the restaurant to see if I could confirm with the manager. A different manager answered and said that she'd make a point to tell the manager I interviewed with to contact me. Nothing ever came.
I'm not disappointed about not getting the job, and am fortunate to have found a fit with a communicative staff, but I do want to share this as a warning to anyone applying to the Albany, OR Applebee's.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What kind of experience do you have?
How do you handle busy waves of customers?
How do you handle when staff members call out last second or are no-shows?
Normal interview questions. If you have an open availability you will get hired! Don't be nervous. Just smile alot ND be friendly. My interview only lasted 15 min and was hired on the spot

Question 1
What is your availability, can you work weekends and holidays
Short and simple. Manager was nice enough. A pleasant and average interview for a waiter job. I decided to go somewhere else for better pay but would have taken the job otherwise.

Question 1
How many years of experience do you have? why did you leave your last role
I applied through other source. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Applebee's (Portage, IN)
Interview
Quick and to the point - start to finish was about 20min. Typical serving interview questions. Hired on the spot. Interview was interrupted multiple times due to the hiring manager being the only manager on duty at the time.
