Arbor is extremely selective when it comes to the interview process. Hundreds of highly qualified applicants apply and only a few get chosen each year.
In order to make the first round of interviews, candidates must have a 3.5 gpa and show a strong background in finance. More specifically, applicants must be able to show that they understand the sell-side M&A process and also have a very solid understanding of both accounting and the different valuation methodologies.
In addition, applicants must have a very strong grasp on technology - most employees have a technology background, which helps on the job where industry knowledge is essential. Expect to be asked about which sectors you follow, and you should know some deals inside and out.
Next, candidates must have excellent sales skills - candidates are judged very closely on this throughout the entire process. Phone presence and a business development background are almost requirements here.
Finally, every single Arbor employee must sign off on the new employees. Fit is a big deal at Arbor.
